I finally finished Block 2 (designed by Vicki Welsh from Field Trips in Fiber) from the Canton Valley’s Bloggers Block of the Month quilt along and I just love it. I think I might need to make an entire quilt from these star blocks. I’ve made them before, but it’s been awhile. I tend to lean towards very simple blocks (that require little cutting and piecing) but this block reminded me that I need to branch out a little.
I’m still not crazy about my fabric, but I do love the way this block turned out.
And I was glad that Vicki mentioned that she ironed her seams open. I tried that and really liked the way it turned out. The block was so much smoother than what I’m used to.
I may have to iron my seams open more often. It did take a little longer, but I thought it was worth it.
Can’t wait for Block 3!
